Sort dialog

Use this dialog to specify the sort order of data within a graph, heat matrix, pivot table, table, or trellis view. This dialog is displayed after selecting the Sort interaction from the right-click menu. The interactions that are available in the Sort dialog depend on the type of data view (for example, graph or table), and the location in which you right-click from within the view. For graph views, the interactions are further dependent upon the graph type, such as bar, line, or pie.

Note:

You cannot sort on data markers for scatter or bubble graphs. Additionally, you cannot sort on bars, lines, or group labs within a pareto graph.

The graph must contain at least one dimension column on which to sort.

Components

Sort Colors

Use this area to sort the values in area, bubble, and scatter graphs by color (for example, sort by revenue for the year 2008).

Sort Columns

Use this area to sort the values in heat matrix, pivot table, and trellis views on criteria columns.

Sort Groups

Use this area to sort the values in bar, line, area, line-bar, time series, and pareto graphs by groups (for example, sort by revenue for the Americas).

Sort Prompts

Use this area to sort on the column prompt for graph, heat matrix, pivot table, table, treemap, and trellis views.

Sort Radar Sections

Use this area to sort the values in radar graphs by the radar section.

Sort Rows

Use this area to sort the values in heat matrix, pivot table, and trellis views on row edges.

Sort Sections

Use this area to sort on the column section for graph, heat matrix, pivot table, table, treemap, and trellis view types.

Sort Slices

Use this area to sort the values in pie graphs by the pie slice.

Sort by Column

Use this list to select an initial column on which to sort member data.

then by Column

Use this list to select a secondary or tertiary column on which to sort member data.

Sort Order

Use this list to specify how member data is sequenced. Depending on the view, one or more of the following options is displayed.
