Creating KPI Contribution Wheels

To create a KPI contribution wheel:

  1. If you want to create and save a KPI contribution wheel, hover your mouse in the global header over the New menu, and then select KPI Contribution Wheel. The KPI displays in the standalone "KPI Contribution Wheel editor."

  2. On the "KPI Contribution Wheel editor: Diagram tab," you can:

    1. Click the Dimension Pinnings button to open the "Dimension Pinnings dialog" and change the pinnings for the KPI to update the pinned values. If no pinnings are set, all dimensions default to "Not Pinned" when opened or edited. Click OK to save the new pinnings. Note that dimensions that are pinned in the KPI's definition (using the KPI Editor) will not display in the dimension pinnings dialog for the KPI contribution wheel.

      Best Practice:

Leave most of the dimensions unpinned so that you can add and use a dashboard prompt on the dashboard. See "What Are Dimensions and Pinned Dimension Values?" for additional information.

    2. Click the Contribution Wheel Properties button to open the "KPI Contribution Wheel Properties dialog" and set the properties to control the appearance of the diagram. You can change the background color, change the gradient color, and so on. Click OK to save your changes.

    3. Facilitate user interaction by clicking the Contact Business Owner button to contact the business owner of the KPI contribution wheel. See "Contacting the Business Owner of KPIs" for additional information.

    4. Hover your mouse over a sector to view the "Information Pane" detail. Note this updates the information according to the location of the mouse.

    5. Select the node and views its data in the Information pane with a single left-click.

    6. Explore the KPI. See"Changing Explore Dimensions Within KPI Contribution Wheels."

    7. Right-click to open a context menu of options.

    • If you right-click on the background, you can explore a dimension, open the KPI contribution wheel in the stand alone editor, or revert your pinnings and focus node to those previously saved in the diagram. Revert only affects the pinnings and focus node. It does not affect all properties.

    • If you right-click on a KPI contribution wheel diagram node, you can contact the business owner of the KPI, invoke an action link, change the focus of the center node, revert your pinnings and focus node to those previously saved in the diagram, or pin and explore a different dimension.

  3. Click the "KPI Contribution Wheel editor: Details tab" to specify supporting information, such as related documents or the business owner.

    You can:

    1. (optional) Add a description.

    2. View, assign, or reassign the business owner.

    3. Specify related documents as appropriate.

  4. Click the Refresh button to update the KPI values.

  5. Click the Dimension Pinnings button to open the "Dimension Pinnings dialog," to change the pinnings. See "What Are Dimensions and Pinned Dimension Values?" for additional information.

  6. Click Save or Save As to display the "Save dialog" or "Save As dialog." In the Save As dialog, you can save a copy of the KPI contribution wheel with a different name.

Note that you can drag a KPI from the "Catalog pane" to the "KPI Contribution Wheel editor: Diagram tab" to change the KPI used by the wheel. To save this as a new KPI contribution wheel, click the Save As button. You cannot drag and drop a new KPI onto the "KPI Contribution Wheel editor: Diagram tab" in read-only mode.
